This time of year is filled with joy and often fraught with stress. We have spent all year digging deep and listening to our inner voice and focusing on ensuring we find and hold onto our identities in the face of challenges. Now is not the time to lose ourselves.
Holidays allow for the opportunity to build our family identity through family traditions. Cultivating family identity can be an anchor for you. Family identity can be reinforced by actually naming the traditions you do. They have a magical way of instilling family identity.
In this week’s episode, Rielly and Tovah jump feet first into the holiday season with equal amounts of excitement and apprehension. Growing up neither one would describe their holidays as a “Walton Family Christmas” but it allows them to decide what traditions they create for their families.
They talk about their own traditions, setting boundaries, holding onto our identities, and yes, finding joy this holiday season.

GO BOLDLY HOMEWORK
- Think about what would make your December great. Related to holidays or otherwise. List 3 things that you really want to do. List 3 things that you really don’t want to do. Involve our family and friends in this process if that is helpful. Try to figure out a plan to make these things happen and set yourself up for success this December.
