13: THE SCIENCE OF GRATITUDE AND WHY PRACTICING IT MATTERS

Today we talk about gratitude.  We hear a lot about gratitude in the world, whether it is a gratitude journal or the concept of practicing gratitude.  We take a deep dive to look at what gratitude truly is and why it is good for us.

Gratitude is not the same as toxic positivity or finding a silver lining.  Gratitude involves noticing the goodness in the world, but it doesn’t mean being blind to the tough stuff or the mess that can get all of us.

Gratitude builds emotional resilience and flexibility by helping you see the positive things in life.  It can help you stay grounded and accept whatever your present situation is.  Gratitude can benefit your relationships and your career.

Beyond that gratitude leads to significant benefits in all parts of your life including benefits to your physical health.  The practice of gratitude can affect your brain function, reduce your stress hormones and help manage the autonomic nervous system function, significantly reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety.

How do you practice gratitude?  We cover that too.  We talk about consistency, gratitude journals, and ways to say thank you to your friends, family and the universe.

We share how we practice gratitude and our lives and what a difference it has made.  Join us today!
